Why Elope on a Safari?

Africa is one of the most extraordinary places on Earth to say “I do.” An African safari elopement blends raw natural beauty, once-in-a-lifetime adventure, and intimate luxury into an experience that feels deeply meaningful and wildly unforgettable. Instead of a traditional venue, your ceremony backdrop might be elephants at sunrise, lions in the distance, or the endless plains of the Serengeti glowing in golden light.

Whether you’re drawn to Africa for the wildlife, the landscapes, or the soul-stirring sense of adventure, eloping on safari is about stepping into something bigger than yourselves. It’s immersive, intentional, and deeply romantic. This isn’t just a wedding day—it’s a story you’ll tell for the rest of your lives.

A safari elopement also naturally becomes an extended celebration. Your wedding day blends seamlessly into a multi-day experience of game drives, luxury lodges, candlelit dinners under the stars, and slow mornings with coffee overlooking the savanna. It’s perfect for couples who want their elopement to feel like both a wedding and the trip of a lifetime.

Why Wild North?

Planning an African safari elopement isn’t just about beautiful photos—it’s about trust, experience, and having the right person with you in a wild, remote, once-in-a-lifetime place.

Here’s why couples choose Wild North Weddings for their safari elopement:

✓ Experienced in documenting destination & safari elopements
Safari elopements are on a whole different level—remote locations, changing light, wildlife movement, and complex logistics. I’ve photographed elopements internationally and on safari, and I know how to work calmly, creatively, and respectfully inside these environments. You don’t just get a photographer—you get someone who knows how to move through this kind of experience with intention and confidence.

✓ Your story is documented like a documentary, not just a photoshoot

Your safari elopement isn’t just one moment—it’s days of adventure, connection, and unforgettable experiences. I photograph candidly and thoughtfully, with a focus on storytelling. From quiet mornings at camp to game drives, vows, and sunset champagne, your gallery will feel like a true visual narrative of your journey.

✓ High-touch service and calm leadership in complex situations

Safari elopements involve time zones, planners, guides, and moving parts. I’m deeply involved in your experience—joining your email threads and WhatsApp groups, coordinating with your safari company, and helping shape your itinerary around your ceremony and portraits. You’re never managing this alone.

✓ Award-winning experience with 12+ years of client trust

For over a decade, couples have trusted me with their most meaningful days. I’m known not just for beautiful images, but for being steady, kind, and highly invested in every couple’s experience—especially when the stakes and travel are big.

✓ Respectful, ethical, and conservation-minded

Wild places deserve deep respect. I photograph safari elopements with care for the land, wildlife, and local rules—working in alignment with guides, parks, and conservation standards.

✓ Inclusive, affirming, and human-first

No matter your identity, sexuality, culture, or background—you’ll be met with warmth, respect, and genuine care. You deserve to feel completely safe and celebrated wherever you choose to say your vows.

How Safari Elopement Pricing Works

Safari elopements are highly customized experiences, and pricing is structured in two parts:

1. Safari Elopement Experience Fee

This is your base package price. It includes everything listed in the packages above. â€‹

3-Day Elopement: $8,000

4-Day Elopement $10,000

2. Safari Lodge & In-Country Travel Costs

Because every safari is unique, these costs are added after your safari company confirms your selections and plans.

These include:

• Safari lodge accommodations for me during coverage days
• Any internal flights or transfers within Africa
• Any extra in-country travel nights outside the safari

• Any excursions you want documented

Your safari package with your chosen company typically already includes my transportation during the safari, park & conservation fees, guides, and activities—so those are not added again.

Typical Total Investment

Between $10,000-$15,000

(Depending on destination, lodge level, number of coverage days, internal flights & transfers)

African Safari Elopement FAQ

Can you legally get married on an African safari?

Yes, but it depends on the country. Some couples choose to legally marry in the U.S. and have a symbolic ceremony on safari, while others complete the legal process abroad with the help of local officials. I’ll walk you through your options and help you decide what makes the most sense for your situation.

Where are the best places for a safari elopement?

Some of the most popular safari elopement destinations include:

• Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater (Tanzania)
• Masai Mara (Kenya)
• Kruger National Park (South Africa)
• Okavango Delta (Botswana)
• Namibia (for safari + desert landscapes)

Your final choice depends on the experience, wildlife, travel style, and level of luxury you’re dreaming of.

How much does it cost to elope on an African safari?

Most couples investing in a fully documented African Safari Elopement Experience spend between $18,000–$25,000+ total, depending on:

• Destination
• Lodge level
• Number of coverage days
• Internal flights & transfers

This includes multi-day photography coverage and planning support with me, plus your safari company’s all-inclusive lodge experience.

Do you travel with us on the safari?

Yes, for part of the trip. Your entire experience will likely be 7+ days long. I travel with you during a small part of your safari and document your story for whichever parts of the trip you'd like me there for. I stay at the same lodges, ride in your safari vehicle, and can join the same activities you choose for your experience.

Do you travel with us on the safari?

Yes! When planned with reputable safari companies and guides, it can be a very safe experience. Your safari team manages safety, wildlife access, and logistics. I work closely with them to ensure your ceremony and portraits happen in safe, permitted areas and conditions. There are limitations to where you can have your ceremony for this reason, but we'll work together to ensure it's a beautiful moment in an unforgettable location.

How far in advance should we book a safari elopement?

Most couples book 9–12 months in advance, especially for peak safari seasons. This gives time for:
• Lodge availability
• International flights
• Safari planning
• Legal paperwork (if marrying abroad)

However, my last safari elopement was pulled together in under 3 months, and it went very smoothly.

What if our safari itinerary changes?

Safari travel can be fluid. If your itinerary changes due to weather, wildlife movement, or logistics, I adapt with you. Your coverage days and schedule are designed to stay flexible while still protecting your overall experience and story.

Can you help us choose a safari company or lodge?

Yes. While I don’t book your safari directly, I offer guidance and recommendations based on your vision, travel style, and experience level. I also join your email and WhatsApp threads with your safari planner to help shape your wedding experience inside your itinerary.

What should we wear for a safari elopement?

Think elevated adventure: breathable fabrics, neutral tones, and movement-friendly styles. I help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully in wild landscapes while still being practical for safari conditions.

How many photos will we receive?

Every elopement is different and many factors play into how many photos you'll receive, but you can expect a large, story-driven gallery that reflects the full experience.

How do we get started?

Start by reaching out through my inquiry form with:

• Your ideal destination
• Your estimated travel window
• The kind of experience you’re dreaming up
