Best Places to Elope in Utah

Utah is home to five stunning national parks and countless scenic desert landscapes, each offering a completely different elopement experience. Whether you want towering canyon views, dramatic arches, or quiet desert overlooks, there’s no shortage of incredible places to say your vows.

Zion National Park Elopements

Towering sandstone cliffs, winding canyon trails, and golden desert light make Zion one of the most iconic places to elope in Utah.

Moab & Arches National Park Elopements

Moab offers some of Utah’s most dramatic red rock landscapes. With natural stone arches, expansive desert views, and epic sunset light, it’s perfect for adventurous couples.

Canyonlands Elopements

For couples seeking something quieter and more remote, Canyonlands offers sweeping canyon vistas and breathtaking overlooks far from the crowds.

Other Hidden Gem Locations

Beyond the national parks, Utah has countless lesser-known locations that offer stunning scenery with more privacy and flexibility.

How do I start planning my elopement in Utah?

Utah’s national parks and public lands have specific rules about ceremonies, permits, and photography. Each park has designated ceremony locations and restrictions on group sizes, equipment, and timing.

The good news is that you don’t have to navigate those logistics alone.

I help couples plan their Utah elopement from start to finish — from choosing the right location and securing permits to designing a timeline that makes the most of the incredible desert light.

Planning support includes:

  • Personalized location recommendations

  • National park permit guidance

  • Ceremony location selection

  • Vendor recommendations

  • Custom timeline design

  • Weather and lighting planning

Frequently Asked Questions about Eloping in Utah

Q: How do I elope in Utah national parks?
A: I'll help guide you through the process. I'll share location recommendations that fit your vision, and based on your selection, I'll reach out to the land management agency. I'll help guide you through the process of filling out the paperwork (often a confusing process) and make sure we're compliant with their policies.

Q: When is the best time of year to elope in Utah?
A: Utah's landscapes are drastically different from North to South, East and West, so the best time of year can depend on the location. But I usually lead my couples towards a spring or late autumn elopement to avoid the summer crowds and extreme heat, and also the unpredictable winter weather conditions.

Q: How do we get legally married in Utah?
A: You'll need to hire an officiant (or me!) to legally perform your wedding ceremony. You'll also need 2 witnesses (I have advice for that if you won't have any guests). You'll need to file through any Utah county clerk for your marriage license, and there's no waiting period to do so. But make sure that you're planning your travel so that you have a day or so to visit the clerk's office during their business hours.

Some couples also choose to have a legal ceremony back home before they travel so they don't have to worry about the legal aspect of it during their trip.
